Den to dining room, dining room to den
So, I switched my dining room and my den and I am quite happy with the results.
Here is my den before. We have talked about this room many times…
And now it looks like this…(with my newly recovered chairs..thanks to my amazing mom and dad. I didn’t even try to help as their system was so over my head (perfectionists). They are beyond helpful!)
See it all happened one day when I was sitting in the den thinking..man, I wish this was my view during meal times. Uh..wait, that could totally happen. So, I just switched the spaces.
Here is my view while I was eating breakfast this very morning. Thats what I am talking about!
And the old dining room now looks like this (with my new thrift store couch).
Now, besides the lighting fixtures (which you can see are a little “off” since they were centered on the previous set up), there was really no issue in switching the rooms. We actually end up in the new den more than we did the old den. Its bright and perfec for reading 100 princess books a day.
We might even switch back when the winter returns, as we do enjoy relaxing on the couch by the fire. Althougth breakfast by the fire sounds pretty awesome too. Really, most events with a fire in the background are better.
The lesson I learned here was this…Don’t get stuck. You have options. If you have the urge to change something up, try it! You might even end up with a better view.

the living room looks awesome!! love it! good job.
Thanks Katie!
love it…and love the recovered chairs!
Looks so springy and bright! Big fan of the changes– and the serene window seat.
Thanks Kate!
Get it girl! Love the switch and the choice in fabrics and colors…HEART HEART!!!
Thanks Kelly, thats really sweet of you!
Love it!
Your home reflects you and your family, it is beautiful inside and out! Here is a link about the chair I purchased at your yard sale. I love it! =) http://taylorla.tumblr.com/post/4963561013/before…
Thank you so much Taylor!! And the chair turned out awesome!! You go!!!
looks great! love your fabric choices…where do you find the best prices and patterns in this town? (or do order online? haven't tried that yet b/c I like to feel the material b/4 I buy!)
Thanks Rachel! I am totally with you on online fabric buying. Too nervous about that. I usually only buy remnants. Cotton Gin has a huge section (which I am sure you know about) and JOanne's just got some really "trendier" home decor fabrics (not remnents though) that you can score with a coupon for about $10 a yard. Also, Yellow Door Interiors has the type of fabric worthy of saving up all those pennies to get a few yeards of. Otherwise..I shop out of town! There is a great rememnat stash down in Nashville I hit on each trip I take. Thanks for being in touch!
Amanda, first of all I saw you walking at Westminster with your beautiful little girls and Kim a few days ago I think you bought the car! Congrats!! It's a great car!! Also, I have been looking for black and white stripped fabric for curtains like that for awhile. Where did you get that if you don't mind sharing? Every black and white fabric I see is bigger stripes and I like the smaller! Looks great!! Love it!!
BEAUTIFULLLLLL!
Hey Amanda! Where did you get the blinds from in the "new den?" The short tie-ups… I've been looking aaaaallll over for ones that are 72" wide for my kitchen window! Any suggestions? My house has gigantic windows!
Erica..What a great problem (big wnidows) to have! Now..I got mine at Walmart! ha. But, it sounds like in htat size they might need to be custom. If you find a savvy sewer they might be able to do them for cheaper. There are lots of tutorials online too, in case you are feeling brave!
