I can completely, 110% relate. Leaving VA felt like cutting my arm off. Like there was literally a piece of me missing. Somehow, some way I survived leaving those friends. And somehow, some way those friends and I have figured out how to stay connected 800 miles apart. There is still a gaping wound, but it is healing, we are committed to staying close, and new friends are surfacing. I have hope where there was literally none when we pulled away.

I adore you and your family. Allowing yourself to feel the journey even when it is painful is a gift that you possess. As someone who was right where you are only 8 months ago, my heart breaks for you. And your friends. They will no doubt feel an emptiness when you leave.
