We’re Back…

We made it! No travel hiccups and great attitudes from the team made for an enjoyable day. A few snapshots from our first day… While at the airport and searching for our little girl’s suitcase, I unzipped this one a few inches and quickly realized, this was it! Plenty of pink happening in here… Out the window of our school bus.  The sights and smells here certainly assault your senses. And back at Siloe church. It was sorta like coming home. Dolores (74) might be the most kind, joyful woman I have ever met. And here are the sweet girls we have been thinking about and praying for (I talked about them here). It was sorta like a celebrity siting. We were so excited. And you can see it took about 2 minutes for us all to become best friends.

Going Back to El Salvador

Screen shot 2012-06-02 at 6.17.10 PM

Last summer Nic and I went with a Brentwood Church group down to El Salvador. I wrote about it  here and here, and this week we are heading back. Last year we had such an incredible time..we were stretched and challenged and encouraged in more ways than we could have imagined. We were able to serve and love some of the most precious people. This year we have already been partnered up with some children who are among the neediest at the school we work with. Throughout the week we will spend extra time with these children and we will have the opportunity to meet their families. I want to introduce to you our little girls… Here is Kimberly   and here is Adrianna   We are pretty much already in love with them. Reading just a little about their stories

Summery Ruffles and the Ruffle Bobby

IMG_0676

I am all for throwing a colorful hair accessory together with an otherwise boring outfit. This works great when you are wearing the same outfit from the day before too (not that I do this.) Here are a sampling of some of the summer-colored ruffle options we have right now… And for those of you who aren’t into headbands, take a look at the ruffle bobby. The more subtle ruffle option. Can be thrown in a messy half up hairstyle, as modeled by Claryn Kate who does messy hair VERY well. Or works great to pull bangs back.. We are officailly loving summer colors over here.

Cheapo Flower Pots

photo-192

So, the Lowes on Timberlake has an awesome discount plant section. Out the garden area to the right and BOOYA..tons of great looking plants for 75% off. Not sure why, but, pretty great! So I got all three of these for $9. The taller one is a basil, tomato, cilantro, parsley plant. Pretty sweet. Wonder if I can keep it alive? And love these other two flower pots, but did not like the pot color (but for $2.50 you can’t be all that picky.) So, I ghetto bagged the flowers..(no time to acutally remove them and properly paint ever angle of the pot.) Actually, while I was doing this I overhead two of my three sweet little angles crying (a simple dispute I am sure). Gotta move fast around here! And used my favorite summer color…Rustoleum Key Lime and sprayed
