Furniture buying on a budget is a fun patience-building activity. For instance…When we added the french doors to this room we knew we would need furniture. But since we don’t typically buy new furniture, I knew it would take some time. I first came across this blue-ish loveseat at a local thrift store. It definitely needs to be recovered, but I love the lines and the color is great for now. I asked them to reduce the price and ended up getting it for $25. It needs some love, but throw some cute pillows on it and you don’t notice too much! Then a few weeks back at a flea market I saw this little green guy. He is the perfect size to go in the room and a perfect fit for the other loveseat. This one, they were asking

Awesome as is..or can be custom painted to match your space. Old sconce. Looks totally Anthropology to me. And these huge ceiling tile replicas. This would be an awesome statement piece for most rooms..or would make an amazing headboard for a twin size bed. I have two of these. They can also be painted. Oh and lastly..the porch shop got some price tags. It’s the little things, right? I cut these out of cardstock and used a little stamp set from Micheals. I sort of love them. That’s all for now. Come shopping anytime!

This one will be 10 months in a few days. Ugh. This week she got her first tooth and started crawling. Please stop growing, Penelope. And Penelope, please don’t ever stop wearing ridicuolsly over-sized hair accessories. Thank you baby.

I bought this plug-in bug zapper light at the thrift store for $2. I was hoping to turn it into a latern for the porch. The weathering on it was pretty cool, and inside was pretty stinkin grose. But, after a little cleaning and the removing of all the lighting components, we have a pretty sweet looking lantern. I just threw in some jars and candles I already had. Sort of the perfect accent to our hanging lights on the back porch. Ahh…summer is amazing.

When I was a little girl, my parents had my brother and my silhouettes done at Disneyland. I don’t remember the event, but they have always hung in my parents and my grandparents house all these years. A few years ago when my grandma passed away, my parents passed that silhouette down to me. Here I am… Well, a few weeks ago when we were at Disneyland, we decided to have the girls’ done. I just love how they turned out. Caroline wanted to keep her crown on, so you can see her proudly wearing it. Maclaryn had her braid in and her bow from her princess dress is evident. And look at Penny’s bangs all crazy! So sweet. So, if you want silhouettes (and won’t be heading to Disney any time soon), there are tons of easy tutorials out

But mixed into those light-hearted conversations come moments that truly inspire me. Today our 80-year-old neighbor brought me over a ziplock bag of cherries…he said he thought about me when he had too many. Seriously? Who does that? Who looks at how much food they have and then thinks about simple ways to give it away? Now, we think about him too. On Valentines day the girls brought him over a Princess Valentine and when it was his birthday we colored him pictures. Believe me, I think he is a far better neighbor than we are, but still, we make our half-hearted efforts. All this was made more substantial in my heart this week when we returned

As Claryn and I were making her bed today, I realized how perfectly her it is. So, I snapped a few shots of what makes it so “her.” And because this is what happens anytime I get a camera out (she gets in front of the object I am trying to photograph), here she is…And what is that on her nose? Who knows? Here’s why it’s her: The ladybug pillowpet. I really wanted to get one to match her room, but she went for red. The pink octopus….probably the least attractive at the Build-A-Bear place, but the first one she saw, so she went for it. The random pink blanket she used one night and is now obsessed with. The side table (chair) she likes to set her favorite “toy of the day” on when she naps. I put a pillow on there

Pretty pumped about my new logo designed by Shelby at Honeysuckle. She is so quick and easy to work with and very reasonable! She does all kinds of design, so check out her work and her blog for some serious inspiration. Thanks Shelby! Now if I was only smart enough to add it to my blog. Let’s see…

We had a seriously magical time at Disneyland a few days ago… We met Snow White (Maclaryn’s favorite.) And hung out with Minnie (who gave the girls kisses) And Mickey And “Tangled” who was so sweet. Maclaryn told her, “I am gonna be like you when I am bigger,” and she said, “Well, look at you, you already are just like me!” And this is to prove Penelope was present (luckily my dad was a champ and had her most of the day, so that we could jump on and off rides and in and out of pictures with 100 characters.) Best grandparents. This was funny! Caroline complimented a couple who was wearing these Mickey hands and so they gave them to the girls. So kind! Such a great day!
