More pink

IMG_4442

With two little girls there are bound to be new pink items entering our house on a weekly basis. Here are a few new pink items I have been working on lately. This picture I bought at a yard sale for $5. I love the frame. I removed the print, sprayed the frame a raspberry color and hot-glued fabric (a remnant piece from Joannes fabric) into the back of the frame. It has all the colors of Maclaryn’s nursery. Here she is showing it off… I am still trying to pull all the pieces together (here are a few of the central items) and I think this will help. Then there are these new headbands. Not totally the winter look, but we are wearing pink everyday around here. As always with vintage buttons. Let me know if you would like

Fall placemat pillows

fall2photo

My awesome sister-in-law, Amy, made some fall placemat pillows and I thought I would pass them along.. Isn’t she savvy? She scored these at Walmart for under $2 a piece.  (Now between you and me, she may have mentioned she employed a “no sew” version on these by using fabric glue.  How great and easy is that? Thanks for sharing, Amy!

I love this man.

fphoto

I love this man…the one standing on a ladder, hanging a light in an office that is not his own at 10 pm on a Tuesday night. Now, while it can be a little annoying when couples use social media as a way of complimenting one another…right now, I cannot help myself. Nic has been a saint throughout this office design project….loading carts at Ikea, loading a trailer full of stuff, driving a trailer full of stuff, unloading a trailer full of stuff, hanging lights, putting furniture together and much more. I think I have realized lately this a cruical way Nic makes me feel loved…by serving and working alongside me. Thank you Nic. (Oooh and isn’t the front sitting area coming along nicely? Still have a long way to go, but I love the direction it is headed)

Flannel Clips

IMG_3953

So I have been working on designing a new office space, I mentioned it here a few weeks ago.  It has been awesome and challenging and exhausting. I am thrilled for the opportunity! That means I have not been doing much around my own house! I did finish these fall, flannel-type clips (which would be awesome to wear with a messy ponytail while Christmas tree shopping- I’m just saying) and some new black and white ones..all with vintage buttons. Let me know if you “need” any of these.

Dictionary Wreath

DSC_0012

If you have been on any design blogs lately, then you have likely come across a few of these old book wreaths. They are so pretty and classic. The tutorial for this wreath, however, said it would take a couple of hours. Even though this wreath is gorgeous, I tried to figure out a way to make a similar one in less time. First, I tore out pages from an old dictionary I had around my house. Then I folded the pages several times until they looked this. I put a dab of hot glue between each layer. Luckily this dictionary had pictures in it.  Fortunately, now I know what an “Aye-aye,” is. Then I glued the folded pages flat around the wreath. After I had created the back, I began to layer with more folded and glued pieces. This time

Pottery Barn knock-off

DSC_0001

Well, like I have said before..not every project turns out like I think it might. And..when that happens I am tempeted to act like it never happened..but alas, honesty is always the best policy. So, I showed you this Pottery Barn display thingy  that I was going to try to copy. Now I only had about 4 hours to shop, purchase and make this item. So, I think it could have turned out cooler, but, it did not! ha My goal was to use it to display my headbands at a craft fair…Here is what it looked like with the headbands on it.I only stopped at one thrift store, so I didn’t find the coolest of the cool frame. but..it was only $8 and I just removed the terrible print inside of it, briefly sanded the edges and did a

Placemat Pillow

YellowPillowComplete2

I have a savvy friend named Rachel and we often “craft” together. I asked her to share her adorable placemat pillow with you. I think it is smart, beautiful and cost effective! Here you go! Simple, 30-Minute, Inexpensive Placemat Pillow I can frequently be found browsing through home furnishing departments of stores.  Most of the time I’ll go home with a list of ideas in mind about how I could make that less expensively, yet rarely execute my plans.  At times I toss the ideas out because of how long I think they may take.  If it takes too long I become overwhelmed with the thought of it.  This project was different. While browsing through Target a couple weeks ago, I came across a placemat that matched my living room.  I thought, “that’s too bad.”  Then I thought, if a

Pottery Barn is selling this for $199. That seems so ridiculous I actually laughed out loud when I saw the price.  I am taking the babygirl stuff to a craft fair this Saturday and will be making one of this for about $8. Stay tuned, I will post finished product tomorrow!!!
