New “Remnant” clips

IMG_6582

I love things to be beautiful and resourceful, I think these clips are both ( I hope you do too!) They can be worn as a clip, but also can be attached to a headband. They are made from remnant of fabric, so you won’t find two identicial clips. They are $10 and come with a headband of your coice to give you options! I hope you love them like I do! Let me know if you would like to place an order!! Also, if you would like to see a few ways we suggest you wear your remnant clip you can check out this video from our latest babygirl photoshoot.

Chalkboarded Coffee Table.

IMG_6491

Heres the backstory…do you have something around your home that just mocks you? Maybe it’s half painted molding in your living room, maybe it’s a pile of books you have been meaning to organize for a month, maybe its a table with paint chipping off. While I currently have all these things taunting me, the paint-chipping table was just agonizing to me. I would strategically place a tray over the spot that looked the worse, but inevitably, 10 minutes later, the tray had been moved the scarred table was exposing it’s ugliness. And then, I had had enough. So one day during nap time, in a dream like state, I had hauled the coffee table onto the lawn and had the top chalkbaorded before I really knew what had happened. And then I had this… Which if you look closely,

Isn’t She Lovely?

IMG_6475

Here she is. (That’s me grading papers and pretending not to notice Nic snapping shots of the new couch. He couldn’t get one without me on it, since I am slightly obsessed with it.) Oh man, isn’t she lovely? The moment I saw her at the thrift store I started calculating my remaining birthday money and any other spare funds I had available (including all coinage strewn throughout my purse). I knew she needed to live in my den. Here she is one more time… Dont you love those legs? I love her. She looks totally out of Anthropology to me. She was $190, which for the shape and style I think is a great deal. One day, when this fabric is trashed from crackers, snot and spit up I will recover her in some amazing fabric. Hmm…cant wait.

Faux leather benches refreshed

IMG_6210

I have had the faux leather benches (pictured below in the den of my previous home) for about 7 years. And man, did they need an update. I had some remnant fabric and in about 10 minutes, these puppies were transformed. To this.. And in our current den… Another angle… I just popped the cushions out, stapled within an inch of their lives, and screwed them right back in place. Easy!! Keep an eye out for things like this, that with just a tiny tweak could be updated and back into the realm of cool. I considered painting the wood, but am feeling pretty lazy this week, so it might do that in another 7 years before I do that.

Contented With Reality

IMG_6192

I really want to live in a home decor magazine. Where you can place a throw on your ottoman and it stays just perfectly placed for, I don’t know, more than a minute or two. But, I don’t, you don’t. We just don’t. We live in our own realities. Mine consists of my husband and I (both working full time), two daughters (two and one) and a large lab mix. Its the most wonderful reality, filled with imperfections and beauty beyond compare. But to be real, most days my heart battles with wanting to have this reality exist within a home decor magazine. Isn’t that an option? I’ll speak for me..it’s not. Not if I want a content heart. Not if I want a loving demeanor and a “present” disposition with my family. Here’s my reality this morning..The Open shelving

Unconventional Side tables

IMG_6177

I sorta love side tables that aren’t meant to be side tables. Like this cart from the 70′s that I purchased at an estate sale. (The toolbox on top was Nic’s PawPaws. I love mixing sentimental items into my decor) And this old school desk and suitcase as a bedside table in my daughter’s room And this TV tray/old suitcase combo by my couch. All of these items were under $12..So, not only does thinking out of the box give you a one-of-a-kind look, but also saves you TONS of money. Any fun side table ideas? Share!!
