Client’s Home Refreshed

IMG_9900

This is a client who also happens to be a DIY savvy great friend of mine. When she asked me to help her take this outdated space and update it, I was thrilled. We were very budget aware while also splurging on a few new items. She had several walls removed which also drastically changed the look of the space. Here is a little bit of the journey… Living room Before: And After: Couch and Curtains (World Market) Green chair:TJ Maxx Rug: Greenfront Accents: Thrift store, garage sales and items she already owned. Also we would love to (one day) cut the “scrolly” accent off these built-ins, but have not had a chance yet. You can see (Below) where half the wall was removed to make the dining room more accessible to the rest of the living space. Looking the other

Just For Me (Mostly)

IMG_9814

Do you do things around your home..things you are fairly certain only you will notice and appreciate? Here is one of mine…I place these stuffed animals and her favorite blanket at the end of Caroline’s bed each day. Just like this. I like to make them seem like they are looking for her arrival. Silly? Um…probably since she has never once commented on them being there. But, I get a kick out of it and since she doesn’t really play with these two, so they stay put pretty well. Bonus. See what I mean? This is all about me. Silly. Also, silly because I take a moment or two to do this each morning, but if you looked under her bed you would wish I would redirect my efforts more towards organization and less towards the pointless staging of stuffed

Little Velcro, Lots of Convenience

IMG_9782

This is our new handy remote holder. A friend of our keeps theirs all on a clipboard and it spurred on this idea. All I did was put a few velcro pieces on the bottom of our remotes and their velcro friends on the top of a tray from the thrift store. Sometimes it’s the little things…Like not having to hunt for all three remotes when attempting to turn on Snow White while two of my three sweet little angles are crying about something. BOOM..all remotes in one not too shabby looking place. I varied the spacing and placement to try to make it look less like they were velcroed in place and more like they were just sitting there without being messed with or moved around (yeah right). And a little more context. (maybe I should take a minute this

Urban Merchant Love

photo-144

I dropped some items off at the Urban Merchant on Main Street in downtown Lynchburg today and thought I would share with you a few reasons why I LOVE this store… Re-finished letters (part of my drop off.) I love letters..I think I have one in each room in my house. Affordable and pretty jewelry (I recently bought a pair of earings for a for a friend for $12.) They are displayed on two old shutters..which I also love.  The owner, Michelle is totally DIY savvy..I think that’s one of the many reasons why I like her so much! Trays full of unique and colorful “pulls.” Some as cheap as $3.50. So fun! SO Anthropology but a fraction of the price. This small round mirror..I LOVE it.(Can you see my feet in this shot?) This fun chalkboard (one of mine). Wouldn’t

Caroline Carver Original

photo-134

I added an original Caroline Carver watercolor piece to my wall cluster today. I cannot believe my luck to have such a talent in my family. It is the perfect addition. If you happen to have an “artist” in your midst frame a little something of theirs (in an adorable secondhand frame) and watch them GLOW with pride. Oh and make sure the colors work in your room. :)

Fabric Happiness

If you haven’t been to Yellow Door Interiors in Wyndhust, you definitely need to swing by. Their sale ends tomorrow…but right now all fabrics are 30% off. They also have a section where the fabrics are as low as $3 a yard (all seen here were $3). Pretty amazing. They have a great selection and were SO helpful….even getting coloring books and crayons out for my girls! I highly recommend stopping by!

Staging Moments

IMG_9729

Took on the staging job for a home (that had been flipped) but had sat on the market for a full year. Here are a few pictures of the inside of the home when we first walked through it. It was in pretty great shape, just lacking character. There was nothing in the space that invited buyers to see themselves in the space. So, with a little work and a teeny tiny budget we turned this plain space into something a little more welcoming… My staging assistant, Penelope. It seems like staging is really just creating little spaces where people want to find themselves. A love seat they want to curl up on… A place they wouldn’t mind doing their makeup… A fresh, bright mantel they would enjoy looking at… A dining room where they would love to host a

Dropcloth and Hotglue Magic

IMG_9716

Found this sweet little lovseat the the Goodwill a few months back..it was $40. While it was outdated looking, I loved the look of the frame and overall shape was great! I decided I would see what I could do. Now, if I could sew, I would have whipped up some cushion covers, but since I dont, I hot glued some. I bought at dropcloth at Walmart (certianly one of the best looking fabrics for the price). It only cost $8 (one dropcloth) to cover this whole loveseat. Also, worth mentioning, I did get one at Lowes, but it had some funky stains on it..apprarently, they aren’t thinking people will actually cover furniture with these things, weird. So, be aware of that! Before: Here this little baby is after… I simply hot glued the fabric (like I was wrapping a

A little something white

bethany

When Bethany contacted me, she was looking for something with a little “sass” to add to her hair for her reception. This off-white peony with a vintage gold button in the center did just the trick! Isn’t she gorgeous? Let me know if you are getting married and need something made especially for your day!
